Social Networking Community

Someone who is not aware of the internet would probably see that title and think: "that's pretty redundant." For photagr, it means that you can link from your profile page to other social networking sites. For example, you have a profile on Facebook, Digg, or Pownce. Instead of duplicating all the info, just link to.

Have more than one website? No problem. You can now add as many as you'd like. They will be listed with the social networking sites on your profile page. We'll even grab your favicon if you have one on your site.

To see what the profile changes look like, check out my profile page at:

We've also added a view option for finding photos users have commented on.

Profiles

A few enhancements have been made to user profiles:
  • You can now specify your default view settings. These include the ability to show your submitted, saved, or friends photos when first coming to photagr.com. Additionally, you can select how to sort those photos and the time frame (i.e. 24 hours, 7 days, etc.).
  • Up until now clicking links always opened a new browser window. You can now select to have links open in a new window or the same window.
  • If you opt in, users can send you messages. Your email address will not be exposed and a verification key is required to help prevent spamming. Note that messages will be delivered via email through photagr.com. Users will not know your email address unless you respond to the message received.
  • A larger text field is provided for you to include some information about yourself. This will show at the top of your profile page.

The Work Continues... on the road

We've been working hard enhancing photagr. The most obvious change is the new colors but there are plenty of other small UI tweaks including highlighting the current view and sort options.

Searching is now live to help find those saved photos. Searching will include tags, titles, comments, and notes.

Last, but not least, we've added an iPhone interface. If you browse to photagr.com you will be asked if you want the iPhone enhanced interface or, go to http://photagr.com/iphone directly. Note that there will be tweaks over the coming days and weeks.

Mashable

Thanks to folks over at Mashable for posting an article about photagr. Check out the article at:

Oh, we're working on the interface :-)

More Features

We've made some enhancements to the posting and saving of photos. You can now save your own title (though viewing is not yet available) for photos as well as store notes. To accommodate these changes the image page now has three tabs; one for comments, one for a list of users that saved the image now including the tags they used, and lastly notes. A future release will allow for private notes but for now be aware that all notes are public.

There is also a new feature whereby your tags are listed and are selectable to provide for faster and easier tagging of photos. This is present in both posting and saving of photos where saving has the addition of recommended tags. These are derived from how other users have tagged the photo.

Lastly, the lightbox feature that was recently added to the homepage and image view pages has also been added to the posting and saving pages. This is particularly useful when determining which photo to post since multiple sizes of the same photo may be present on the page. Clicking the preview will now load the full size image as an overlay.

We hope you enjoy these new features.

New Lightbox Feature

Just released an update adding better viewing of full size images using the Lightbox 2 script by Lokesh Dhakar. Captions will like to the page where the original photo resides.
